When it comes to garage punk in the year 2018, The Control Freaks are showing everyone how it's done. Double Dose of Hate is their fourth single - and in my opinion their best yet. I say this because of the impossible time I'm having trying to determine which of these two tracks is "the hit". One song can be played at max volume while you curse the name of significant others past and present. The other will feed your abhorrence for just about everyone else. Arguments over which track is superior could very well lead to drunken fist fights and ruined friendships. Do we really want that? So let's just call it a tie and agree that a double dose of hate is exactly what this world needs.

Be careful what you wish for, indeed! This is snot-caked Bay Area slime by abusive maniacs with the teen-beat on lockdown, and they will C.O.N.T.R.O.L. your last remaining brain cells! "Mindless Entertainment" got all the obnoxious pop you can handle: "Hollywood" is classic G-Lo retardation, and guitarist Natalie Sweet is making us itch sharing vocal doodies all over the album in her best Edith Bunker impression. Keep punk stupid, stupid!

San Franciscos last standing Budget Rockers THE CONTROL FREAKS! You should know what to expect here by now, so dont make us waste our bad breath trying to explain it to you, gum boy. But this time theres not one, but TWO covers of 77 KBD genius - both from Australia, and both by BABEEZ! One of our most worshipped singles ever by a long shot gets the ridiculous(ly enthusiastic) Greg Lowery treatment on "Dowanna Love," with newly added C-FREAK Sherrilynn Nelson taking over vox doody for "Nobody Wants Me, and smashing some cheap keys on the rest of the LP, adding a new layer of scuzz to the classic G-Lo beat! So yeah, like, the new LP is called "Shes The Bomb," and IT is the bomb, and it certainly has more to offer than just two cool cover songs. This thing is loaded (and we know "loaded") with hit after smash hit like "I Hate Your Face," "Hate List," and we wish there was at least one more song with "Hate" in the title, but "Creep You Out" is on the level, and youre gonna need a "First Aid Kit" when this suckers done tearing you a new one. But what do we know? We make no claims about being any smarter than this LP.
