Brixton Records proudly announces the forthcoming release of The New York Ska-Jazz Ensemble's new album. The band is currently hard at work on their 11th album that will be named "Double Edge". This album, according to Rock Steady Freddie Reiter bandleader/lead singer, "is our Masterpiece--devoted to our fans." In addition to NYSJE's all-star lineup, the release features Jamaican singing star JC Lodge on the new hit single "Weak in Love." Other notable guest artists include Andy Bassford on guitar (Toots & the Maytals, Gregory Isaacs), Kim Miller on vocals (Israel Vibration), Larry McDonald on percussion (David Hillyard & RS7, Gil Scott Herron) and Kevin Batchelor on trumpet (the Skatalites). Famed Easy Star Records record producer Michael Goldwasser adds his artistry to the project by mixing 6 of the sizzling tracks!!

"Live in Gouvy" was recorded in the summer of 2015 at "Ferme de la Madelonne" a historic jazz club in the countryside of Belgium. This record documents the incredible energy at a NYSJE concert. The fans in Gouvy love the NYSJE so therefore Gouvy was a perfect setting to capture the excitement and energy felt by both the band and the audience. This is the first NYSJE record ever with 3 horns on the entire album featuring: Rock Steady Freddie (tenor sax, flute, vocals), Nana Yao Dinizulu (drums), Earl Appleton (keyboards). Alberto Tarn (guitar), Ben Basile (bass), Mark Paquin (trombone, vocals) and Kevin Batchelor (trumpet, vocals)."Live in Gouvy" is also album number 13 for the New York Ska-Jazz Ensemble. Each of the records has been a labor of love by a joint of musicians who are all masters band and this new album helps document their prowess. The bonus track featuring Alberto Tarns guitar virtuosity is the only studio track on the album.Rock Steady Freddie invented the NYSJE sound along with the other original members in 1994. Since then the band has performed in 32 countries to this point and has stayed on the road all these years for the love of the Music!!!!!!

"Step forward" has been recorded in Brooklyn-New York at HardLuck Studios in 2008 .In this "live sessions" the band had the collaboration of some of the greatest ska-jazz bass players (Val Douglas legendary Skatalites bass player , and Kevin Batchelor current member of Skatalites).But the real secret of this album is that the line set of NYSJE has been completed and solidified with some of the best ska and reggae musicians all over the world (Fred Reiter-saxophones and flute,Alberto Tarin -guitars,Yao Dinizulu-drums and percussion,Earl Appleton-organs and pianos and Mark Paquin-trombone).
